Andy Miah

Professor Andy Miah, PhD is Chair of Science Communication & Future Media at the University of Salford, Manchester, where he is also AI Ethics Champion, Metaverse Special Interest Group lead, and Principal Investigator for the MediaCity Immersive Technologies Innovation Hub. His research examines the transformative implications of emerging technologies and his publications span artificial intelligence, metaverse technologies, esports, drones, and health. He is author of Sport 2.0 (MIT Press, 2017), along with The Olympics (Routledge, 2012) and he has conducted research at each Olympic Games since Sydney 2000. Prof Miah is Academic Adviser to the Global Esports Federation and Board Member of the British Esports Federation. Prof Miah was previously an IOC Young Reporters mentor and is a frequent media commentator and content creator.
