SportAccord 2021 Volunteer Training Programme Launched

The SportAccord 2021 Volunteer Training Programme was recently launched in Ekaterinburg.

The Team Leaders, who will head up the various areas of volunteer work at the SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit 2021, began their training in early March.

The Team consists of 29 students from the Ural Federal University with experience in organising major sporting and exhibition events in Russia. At SportAccord 2021, they will coordinate more than 600 volunteers who will be responsible for the business programme, delegate transfers, media operation, accreditation, hotel accommodation, SportAccord Sports Festival and so on.

Now the Team Leaders are going through a series of seminars and are beginning to immerse themselves in the upcoming SportAccord 2021.

In addition, they will have workshops on conflict management and techniques for working during high-pressure times.

Leonid Rapoport, the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of Sverdlovsk Oblast invited participants of the Territory of Senses Forum participants to join the volunteer programme

“This year, Ekaterinburg is hosting the world summit SportAccord. We will receive all the star specialists of global sports, so this project is exceptionally important for us. Handling it will help us hone our skills in organizing events of such a great scale. What is important to us is to show what our region aspires to achieve and what we already have at our command,” the Minister noted.

According to Mr. Rapoport, over 20 international competitions on priority sports, including group games of the Volleyball Men’s World Championship, are going to take place in the region within years. A series of test-drive sports events are planned for the run-up of the 2023 Summer World University Games.

Forum participants wanted to know how they could help in organizing and hosting the contests. Leonid Rapoport invited young enthusiasts to sign up with the volunteer program, noting that recruitment had already started.

“We have a powerful volunteer training center that was established before the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. Our team’s experience gained during the University Games and World Championships in Kazan, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup, now empowers us to train ultra-qualified volunteers,” the Minister told.
