SportAccord and GAISF President Raffaele Chiulli Celebrates World Radio Day

GAISF and SportAccord President Raffaele Chiulli joined Editor and Founder of Around the Rings Ed Hula for an online podcast in celebration of World Radio Day.

Held annually on 13 February, World Radio Day celebrates radio as part of humanity’s history by following the various developments in our society and adapting its services. As the world changes, so does radio.

Speaking on Around the Rings Radio, President Chiulli took the opportunity to celebrate the power of radio and its importance for millions of people, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Radio has helped listeners stay connected. It has provided a consistent voice of comfort for those who are struggling to cope during the pandemic and various national lockdowns,” said President Chiulli.

During the podcast, Chiulli discussed the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, SportAccord 2021 and the next edition of the World Urban Games. Chiulli also highlighted the positive signs of recovery from COVID-19 in sport.

There are some very encouraging signs on the horizon for the global sports community. Confidence is certainly growing in light of the effectiveness of the countermeasures being rolled out at sports events around the world. More than 7,000 events have been organised by International Sports Federations, with 175,000 COVID tests, of which only 0.18 per cent were positive,” said President Chiulli.
