SportAccord President Dr. Raffaele Chiulli Welcomes Confirmation of New Sports and Gender Equality for Paris 2024

The President of the Association of IOC Recognised International Sport Federations (ARISF), SportAccord, and Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), Raffaele Chiulli, has welcomed the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board’s decision on the Olympic Games Paris 2024 event programme which is gender equal, youth focused and fully aligned with values of inclusivity and creativity. In particular, the perfect parity of 50 per cent male and female participation for the first time in the history of the Games, along with the Olympic programme and its inclusion of four additional ARISF sports: breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing.

“I am very pleased that the Olympic Games are quickly adapting to a post-COVID-19 world and continuing to implement the IOC Agenda 2020,” said ARISF and GAISF President Raffaele Chiulli. “Paris 2024 will see complete gender equality for the first time in history and a record number of mixed events, which is an incredible milestone of progress for the global sports community. It is also fantastic to see the continual evolution towards more inclusion for youth oriented and urban sports such as sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing, which will all make their debut in Tokyo next year and along with breaking will be included in the Paris 2024 programme.”
