Growing participation remains one of the central challenges for International Federations, but the ways in which people discover, participate in and stay connected to sport are changing.
At this year’s SportAccord Forum, the panel discussion “The participation challenge: new routes to growth” will examine how IFs can respond to a changing participation landscape and find new ways to develop their sports and reach wider audiences.

The session will bring together Jason Ferguson, Chairman of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association; Pierre Trochet, President of the International Federation of American Football; Elena Korf, Future of Youth Sport Director, Social and Community Impact at Nike; and Kamila Pilwein, Global Marketing Director at Arena.
New formats, communities, platforms and experiences are reshaping how people engage with sport. For federations, this creates opportunities to rethink traditional participation models, reach new communities and strengthen the pathways that keep people involved over the longer term.

The discussion will explore how IFs can grow their participation base, including how they reach the next generation, while also considering the role of strategic partnerships with brands, governments, cities and delivery partners in opening up new routes to growth.
“The participation challenge: new routes to growth” takes place on Tuesday 6 October, from 10:15 to 11:00 at the SportAccord Forum in Lausanne.
