Tanja Haug serves as an independent expert, advisor, and auditor for sporting bodies in governance, disciplinary and integrity matters. As a member of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) External Review Commission, Tanja was involved in the extensive investigation into the alleged wrongdoing of the federation’s former leadership.

Tanja is an independent member of the Board of the Biathlon Integrity Unit (BIU) and chairs the BIU Vetting Panel. She is also the Chair of the Independent Vetting Panel of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and a member of the independent International Tennis Federation (ITF) Ethics Commission.

As an arbitrator, Tanja sits for the World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal and for Sport Resolutions’ International Hearing Panel. She is also an arbitrator at the German Court of Arbitration for Sport, however, currently serves on the Court’s Sport Appointment Committee. At national level, Tanja independently decides on the administrative reviews of whereabouts failures within the jurisdiction of the German National Anti-Doping Agency and pursues potential match-fixing offences on behalf of the German Ice Hockey Leagues DEL and DEL2. Her previous roles include serving as legal counsel to the German Athletics Federation and lecturing sports law at the German Sport University Cologne. Tanja is a German qualified lawyer and holds a PhD in sports science.
