Mélanie Duparc has been the Secretary General of the World Union of Olympic Cities since 2013. The Union brings together former and future Olympic cities. Melanie Duparc is in charge of collecting good practices from Olympic cities and facilitating dialogue between former and future Olympic Cities. In 2014, Mélanie Duparc launched a new initiative dedicated to all cities interested in using sport as a tool for urban development. This new initiative consists of an annual event called the Smart Cities & Sport Summit, which has already had three successful editions held in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In order to offer something additional to cities, Mélanie Duparc started an online platform called the Smart Cities & Sport platform where she publishes articles related to topics of high interest to cities such as sports facilities, event hosting, health, social integration through sport and sustainable development. Through this platform, Mélanie Duparc has given cities the possibility of exchanging knowledge and best practices in order to better connect sport and cities.
