Brent Nowicki

Executive Director

Brent John Nowicki is currently the Executive Director of World Aquatics (AQUA), the international federation for the Olympic disciplines of swimming, diving, water polo, open water swimming, and artistic swimming, as well the aquatics disciplines of high diving and masters. Prior to joining AQUA in June 2021, Mr. Nowicki was the Managing Counsel at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland. He joined the CAS in 2013 after 7 years as private practicing attorney in New York.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts (English) from Fairfield University, where he was a member of the Division I lacrosse program, and his Juris Doctor, with honours, from the State University of New York, University at Buffalo.  

Mr. Nowicki has extensive and unique experience in the field of international sports management and law.  While in private practice, Mr. Nowicki represented various professional athletes and players’ unions in contract negotiations, anti-doping issues, rights of publicity, as well as legal representations of grievances, hearings, and appeals. During his tenure at the CAS, Mr. Nowicki was involved in a variety of sporting disputes involving the IOC, International and National Federations, Associations (FIFA and UEFA), Leagues, Teams, and Players.  

Mr. Nowicki’s current work includes the global management of AQUA and its business affairs, including oversight on all sponsorship and media partnerships, event planning and programming, development initiatives, and financial stability.
