The World Games 2013 in Cali, Colombia from July 25 to August 4 will welcome 4500 athletes and officials from 101 countries. The International World Games Association, which holds its General Assembly at SportAccord Convention every year, announced that International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge will be at the Opening Ceremony with a sell-out crowd of 35,000 spectators.

The first edition of The World Games to take place in South America will feature competitions in 31 sports (26 official and 5 invitational sports) in 25 venues across the city of Cali. Rugby Sevens will be part of The World Games for the final time in Cali. The discipline will be part of the Olympic programme for Rio 2016. Softball and Squash, two of three sports on the shortlist for the Olympic programme in 2020, will be on the programme in Cali. 

More than 120 hours of television coverage will be produced by the Colombian broadcaster RCTV as the host broadcaster. At least 22 TV stations from five continents will be broadcasting competitions of The World Games.
