Kim Jae-Yeol

Jae Youl Kim was elected the 12th President of the International Skating Union (ISU) in June 2022, and was re-elected for a second term at the 60th Ordinary ISU Congress in June 2026. A lifelong skating enthusiast and passionate advocate for the sport, he has led the ISU through a period of significant transformation, championing the growth and modernization of ice skating while preserving the traditions, values, and heritage that define the sport. He has overseen several landmark initiatives, including the launch of the ISU Short Track World Tour, the creation of World Ice Skating Day, the ISU’s comprehensive brand transformation, the establishment of the new ISU Home of Skating in Lausanne, and significant modernization of the ISU’s Constitution and governance structures. He has previously served on the ISU Council (2016-2022) and as President of the Korea Skating Union (2011-2016).

In 2023, Jae Youl Kim was elected a Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the 141st IOC Session. In 2026, he was elected to the IOC Executive Board at the 145th IOC Session. A committed supporter of the Olympic Movement, he played an active role in the successful bid to host the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 and subsequently served as Executive Vice President of the PyeongChang Organizing Committee (POCOG). In recognition of his contributions to the Olympic Movement, he was awarded the Olympic Order by the IOC. He has served on several IOC commissions, including the Olympic Program Commission, Coordination Commission for the XXIV Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 and Coordination Commission for the XXV Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. Currently, he is a member the Coordination Commission for the XXVI Olympic Winter Games Alpes 2030, Digital Engagement and Marketing Communications Commission, Safe Sport Regional Hub Initiative – International Safe Sport Steering Committee, and Olympic Solidarity Commission.

In addition to his roles in sports administration, Jae Youl Kim has 25 years of marketing and business development experience at multinational corporations. He is currently President of Global Strategy Group, Samsung’s internal strategy unit.

He lives in Seoul, Korea with his wife and four children.
