
Dr Madeleine Pape
Dr Madeleine Pape (she/her) is a sociologist at the University of Lausanne’s Institute of Social Sciences. Following her career as an Olympian (Beijing Olympic Games, Athletics, 800m), Madeleine obtained her PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research examines standards of evidence and policy integrity in how sports organizations regulate fairness in the women’s competition category. Madeleine’s work has been published in leading international journals and has been funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, US National Science Foundation, Australian Research Council, and Olympic Studies Centre. From 2022 to 2025, Madeleine worked with the International Olympic Committee to support the Framework on Fairness, Inclusion and Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity and Sex Variations.
