Dr. Payoshni Mitra

Dr. Payoshni Mitra is the Founder and Executive Director of Humans of Sport and a leading advocate for athlete rights and gender and racial inclusion in sport. With nearly two decades of experience working with athletes across Asia and Africa, she has been at the forefront of advancing equity and human rights in sport.

Dr. Mitra played a pivotal role in the landmark legal case of Indian sprinter Dutee Chand and provided expert testimony for Olympian Caster Semenya before the Court of Arbitration for Sport. She has advised major organizations including the International Olympic Committee, FIFA, the United Nations, and the Council of Europe on sex eligibility regulations and inclusion policies.

She currently serves as a Director and Trustee of Women Win. Her work has been widely featured in international media and in the acclaimed documentary Category: Woman, which highlights her enduring commitment to athletes’s human rights, inclusion and non-discrimination in sport.
