LAUSANNE, Switzerland \u2013<\/strong> SportAccord has announced that Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), will be a Keynote Speaker at the fully virtual International Federation (IF) Forum 2021 on 25 May.<\/p>\n

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who has been a leading figure in the global response to the Covid-19 pandemic, will deliver a Keynote Address on the theme of the conference \u2013 \u2018Lessons We Are Learning from a Global Crisis and How Sport and Society Can Emerge Stronger\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The address will follow welcome remarks by International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach and an opening address by Dr. Raffaele Chiulli, President of SportAccord and GAISF (Global Association of International Sports Federations<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Having been elected to serve a five-year term at the helm by WHO Member States in 2017, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is recognised worldwide as a leading health scholar, researcher and diplomat with first-hand experience in research, operations and leadership in emergency responses to epidemics.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited that Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who delivered an excellent address at the IF Forum 2020, will return as a Keynote Speaker at the fully virtual IF Forum 2021,\u201d Dr. Chiulli said. \u201cDr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus will provide a timely perspective on the role sport can play in improving health and welfare across society now and in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 15th edition of the\u00a0IF\u00a0Forum\u00a0will adopt a fully virtual format with expert speakers from across the global sports movement, including representatives of the IOC, umbrella sports associations and individual IFs, as well as sports industry executives.<\/p>\n

Presentations, updates, case studies and panel sessions will be provided on several topics, including \u2018Moving Forward, Pivoting and the Lessons We Are Learning\u2019, \u2018A Return to Competition and Lessons from the Bubble\u2019, \u2018Athlete Mental Health\u2019, \u2018Commercial Approaches for IFs in the New Normal\u2019 and \u2018The Virtual Experience and its Home within IFs\u2019.<\/p>\n

The invitation-only\u00a0IF\u00a0Forum\u00a02021, which will be staged virtually via the Olympic Capital of\u00a0Lausanne\u00a0in the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland, will bring together more than 300 leaders from over 125 IFs, plus other virtual delegates and speakers. \u00a0<\/strong>The IF Forum takes place annually and targets the specific needs of Olympic and International Sport Federations with a focus on sharing best practices and knowledge. The event is open to International Sports Federation members from ASOIF (Association of Summer Olympic International Federations), AIOWF (Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations), ARISF (Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations), AIMS (Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport) and GAISF (Global Association of International Sports Federations) and its Associate Members.<\/p>\n

In addition, the IF Forum receives the full support of the International Olympic Committee.<\/p>\n
