President of SportAccord since 2021, Ivo Ferriani began his career on the Italian bobsleigh national team from 1984 to 1990. Notably, he represented Italy at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. Ferriani’s passion for sports extended beyond the track, and he earned a bachelor’s degree in sports science from Roma’s State University.

After retiring, Ivo transitioned into coaching, leading the Italian bobsleigh team from 1990 to 1994. He later became head coach for the French team, securing an Olympic bronze in the four-man event at the 1998 Winter Olympics. In 1999, he coached Canada Bobsleigh Skeleton, guiding them to a notable 5th place in the two-man event at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games.

Ivo’s contributions to the sport extended into administration and leadership. In 2009, he announced his candidacy for the Presidency of the International Bobsleigh and Toboggan Federation, ultimately winning the election in 2010. He went on to be re-elected as President in 2014 and 2018. In 2016, he became an International Olympic Committee (IOC) member, and in 2018, he was appointed to the IOC’s Executive Board. He has been the President of the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) since 2020.
